Watch Indian Super League – List of broadcasters in ISL 2018-19
ISL 2018 Broadcast Details
The first four editions of the Indian Super League have been a roaring success in India with Indian football fans treated to a level of live footballing action that they had been starved of. The fifth edition of the ISL will begin later this month but the amount of interest it has already generated with player transfers, the ISL draft and the draft has only served to increase the excitement around the league.
And with 10 teams continuing to participate in this year’s ISL as well, it would come as no surprise that it is expected to be a very big competition. The addition of Bengaluru FC and Jamshedpur FC has not just added to the number of matches played, there’s also been extra excitement.
This was evident in the way Bengaluru managed to make it to the final of the Indian Super League in their very first season before losing to Chennaiyin FC. Chennaiyin won their second title last year to go with ATK’s two titles making it a two-horse for the moment. Expect the other sides to fight tooth and nail to get back at the pair.
Football always had a market in India but with the television channels screening top quality football games from the best leagues in the world meant that people were not prepared to give a chance to the sub-standard football in the local Indian leagues. All that changed with the emergence of the ISL as fans got a major improvement to what was available in the I-league up until then.
To add to that, the inexpensive tickets for the games also ensured that most of the games were played in packed stadiums.
When Star Sports became the broadcasting partner for the tournament in India and also decided to become a partner in the overall venture, their marketing of the tournament and the coverage that it received even before a ball was kicked meant that the ISL had already become a game changer. New sponsorship deals for the sides also helped reinforce that belief.
The fifth edition of the ISL will be broadcast live to over 100 countries in the world. Fox have bought the rights for USA and Australia while CBP have the TV rights for Canada. Middle Eastern and North African viewers can catch all the action live on OSN and Eurosport respectively with the latter also slated to broadcast the tournament in South-East Asia and Continental Europe.
Star Sports will also provide dedicated live streaming services to viewers in India through their app while Fox Sports will do the same for Australia and the US.
