Indian Super League Points Table Latest

ISL 2017 points table will be updated here match by match. The Indian Super League 2017 kick-starts this year again and here you can check out for the latest standings and the ISL points table. The last edition of the ISL was an entertaining affair, which has left the fans waiting eagerly for the 2017 Indian Super League. The points table in the previous season looked highly interesting, with the underdogs coming from behind to take the glory. Get the latest ISL 2017 Points Table once the tournament kick-starts later this year.

The defending champions for the season were FC Chennaiyin, who even though are a mighty opponent, ended up having a season to forget. In the 14 games they played, they could only win three while losing six of them. They finished the tournament at the seventh place with 15 points. Oddly, the runners-up and their opponents from the 2015 season, FC Goa, too had a disastrous spell. They finished at the bottom of the table with 14 points.

With two big guns from the previous season out already, the tournament had taken an interesting turn. Mumbai City reached the top of the table with six wins and just three losses, with Kerala Blasters on the second place, lagging by a mere point. The other two spots for the semifinals were bagged by Delhi Dynamos and Atletico de Kolkata. NorthEast United and Pune City FC showed minor improvements in comparison to previous season, but their performance was still mediocre.

Coming to the semifinal, it was no less than a world cup game. The stakes were high, with three of the four teams having a chance to reach the glory for the first time. The first semifinal was between Mumbai and Kolkata, where the Bengali lads won. Having won the first leg 3-2, they needed only a draw in the second leg to reach the final.

The second semifinal was more intriguing, which was between Delhi and Kerala. Kerala Blasters won the first leg by 1-0 at home. In the second leg, the full time score was 2-1 for Delhi Dynamos. But owing to the away goal rule, another goal was needed by the either sides to win. After a nail biting finish, it was Kerala who won the penalty 3-0 and sailed to yet another final.

History was repeating itself when Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters went head to head in the final again. And just like the last time, it was Kolkata who won the tournament yet again. The end result was 1-1 at the end of play, with a 4-3 win for Kolkata on penalties.

Having won the tournament twice already, Atletico de Kolkata will be the team to beat this season. The 2017 Indian Super League is going to be full of twists and turns, and it will be interesting to see if they can retain their title this time.

The teams involved in this year’s edition will the same ones as last season and are the following in alphabetical order:

Atletico de Kolkata
Chennaiyin FC
Delhi Dynamos FC
FC Goa
FC Pune City
Kerala Blasters
Mumbai City FC
NorthEast United FC
