Indian Super League Schedule 2017/18

isl schedule 2017

The schedule for ISL 2017-18 is updated here. The Indian Super League has added a new dimension to the sport of football in India over the course of last three years. In addition to the already existing I-League, fans have been able to witness a level of football that includes many international names. The Indian Super League schedule is usually placed in the months of October-December, which also happens to align with festivities in the country. This only means an added bonanza for the fans across the country.

So far, the tournament has witnessed eight teams, representing a particular region/city in the country. The most popular among them is Atletico de Kolkata, who have won the tournament twice already. The city is known for its love of football, and fans have displayed their enthusiasm on several occasions. This year too, we can expect the same kind of eagerness from the people in Kolkata.

Kerala Blasters are another team with a very strong fan base. Their home ground is in Kochi, which saw the highest attendance by a home crowd last season. While the other teams were in the vicinity of 25,000 supporters on average, Kerala Blasters had twice the support, with the largest number being 54,913! That is, for Kerala’s home game, one could expect a good, healthy turnout.

Apart from these two cities, good turnouts were also observed in Guwahati too, which is the home of NorthEast United FC.

This year, the organizers of ISL, Football Sports Development Limited have decided that three new franchises will be introduced from the upcoming season of the league. They will be accepting bids for new franchises out of 10 cities – Jamshedpur, Ahmedabad, Durgapur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Cuttack, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram and Siliguri.

Out of the above 10, three cities will get a chance to have their team compete in the 2017/18 ISL. In case Kolkata is awarded a bid, they will have to host their home games outside the city. With so many new developments around the corner, the future of ISL looks quite bright. It will be interesting to see how the ISL schedule pans out to be this season.

After receiving an electrifying response to the second season of the Indian Super League, the football tournament is now back again for its fourth year, and it is set to be even bigger and better. You can find the ISL schedule below.
