Indian Super League Auction Date: As it happened

All eyes were on the much-awaited the first ever Indian player auctions of the second edition of the Indian Super League which took place in Mumbai on 10th July, 2015.

In total there were a total of 10 Indian footballers (as shown below) who went under the hammer as the eight franchisees looked to strengthen their squad for an assault on the most popular Indian football tournament.

First to be auctioned was Jackichand Singh who had a base price set at Rs 20 lakh. The 23 year old winger was sold to FC Pune City for Rs 45 lakh.

Next up was Thoi Singh. The best midfielder of the 2014-15 I-League season was sold to Chennaiyin FC for Rs 86 lakh while Anas Edathodika went to Delhi Dynamos FC for just over his base price for Rs 41 lakh.

Eugeneson Lyngdoh, probably India’s best midfielder, triggered a massive auction. With a base price set at just 27.50 lakh Atletico de Kolkata came close to bagging him for Rs 1 crore. Ultimately he was sold to FC Pune City for a whopping Rs 1.05 crore.

Finally it was the turn of Indian national team captain Sunil Chettri, who had the highest base price of Rs 40 lakh. Mumbai City got him for a record Rs 1.20 crore. He will form a deadly partnership with the team and play a major part in the team’s success.

Arata Izumi was sold to Atletico de Kolkata for Rs 68 lakh with lanky striker Robin Singh snapped up by Delhi Dynamos FC for Rs 51 lakh.

Karanjit Singh, the sole goalie in the auction, was bagged by Chennaiyin FC for his base price of Rs 60 lakh. While Rino Anto was sold to the champions Atletico de Kolkata for Rs 90 lakh, the last player to be auctioned, Seityansen Singh, went to NorthEast United FC for Rs 56 lakh.

The ISL draft was also be held on the same day as the player auction with the fate of 113 Indian players hanging in the balance.
