With the addition of two new franchises to the league – Jamshedpur FC and FC Bengaluru, last year, the number of teams for the ISL season have gone up to 10 and that means every team will play a total of 18 games, nine at home and away apiece.
The league will also last five months instead of just three, with international breaks at different times during the competition including one longish break in December 2018.

ATK, previously known as Atletico de Kolkata, had won the 2016 edition of the competition but failed to qualify for the semi-finals last year and that came as a big surprise for the pre-tournament favourites. Expect them to come out fighting yet again.
Last year, it was Chennaiyin’s turn to win the ISL yet again, as they beat the new-comers Bengaluru FC in the final to take the crown. Bengaluru were joined by Jamshedpur as the two teams last year and one can expect them to try and soar new heights too.
Kolkata had won the inaugural edition as well as the 2016 edition by defeating the same side – Kerala Blasters, in the finals. Having established their superiority in the ISL over the years, they will certainly fancy their chances when they begin their run in the league.
They had got themselves a new squad, the highlight of which is the Irish legend, Robbie Keane, who spent the prime of his career playing for big teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
Last year, Kerala Blasters had revamped their squad completely after struggling to win the title on two occasions. They had got themselves the former ATK striker Iain Hume, along with the Bulgarian superstar Dimitar Berbatov. However, this season, their issue will not be as much on the field as it could be off it as one of their stakeholders, the face of their team, Sachin Tendulkar has decided to part ways with the league.
The other teams in the fray are Mumbai City FC, NorthEast United FC, Goa, Delhi and Pune, all of whom can mount a solid challenge for the rest of the teams in the ISL this season.
