Puma Brand Partner for Indian Super League Match Balls
The German sportswear manufacturing giant Puma will supply the official match ball for the Indian Super League. Along with it, it will also provide match balls to all the eight franchisees for their training purposes. The company founded by Rudolf Dassler (brother of Adidas founder Adi Dassler) has it’s headquarter in Herzogenaurach, Germany. While it is now owned by a French multinational company Kering who owns a slew of luxury, sports and lifestyle brands like Gucci, Saint Laurent Paris and Ulysse Nardin to name a few.
The official match ball is named PUMA evoPOWER 1 Statement Football. It uses FIFA approved dual outer technology in the ball. This basically means that the outer surface of the ball has two elements to it. The outer material provides more grip for more bend in dead ball situations (like free kicks, corner kicks or penalty kicks) while on it will appear dimples (like on golf balls) which patented by PUMA will provide better aerodynamics or directional control. The ball also features PUMA’s controlCELL technology which uses highly optimized design engineering to help a player’s stability and control. This is done by the high strength-to-weight overlay materials which offer lightweight and flexible support as well as durability.
Puma has recently heavily invested in domestic club properties like becoming the kit manufacturer of the current FA Cup winners Arsenal FC. They also sponsor the current I-League champions Bengaluru FC.
Abhishek Ganguly, MD of Puma India commented at the launch “PUMA since its inception in 1948 has focussed on football and the brand has a rich legacy with the sport. The association with ISL brings in credibility and PUMA is happy to be the official ball partner for the tournament. With the brand belief of Forever Faster, PUMA now aims on key performance speak. The EvoPOWER 1 football uses cutting edge innovation and we are glad to bring such technology to the table”.
The ball will be very soon available online at pumashop.in and all their branded stores across India.
