TNPL CricketThe second edition of the TNPL will be played on July 22 to August 20. And a host of IPL stars are expected to feature in this competition.

A TNPL Draft will be held in June, and quite a long list of Tamil Nadu premier league players who featured in the Indian Premier League have been named in it. Piyush Chawla, who recently played for the Kolkata Knight Riders, will be a part of the TNPL Draft, apart from Ankit Bawane and Robin Bisht.

Basil Thampi will also make it to the TNPL Draft, having captured the imagination of the Indian fans with his excellent bowling during the IPL. However, Indian international Jayant Yadav might not make it to the TNPL Draft.

There are also talks that Sanju Samson and Vishnu Vinod are in talks with the management but not much is known about their plans.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu joined a host of other states in India to host its very own cricket league, following the grand success of the sport on the national stage. They joined the neighbouring Karnataka Premier League Twenty20 tournament that has been played since 2009. The competition was played from August 27, 2016 featuring big stars like R Ashwin (picked up by Dindigul), Murali Vijay (picked up by Coimbatore), L Balaji & Dinesh Karthik who both play for Thoothukudi. The Tamil Nadu Premier League tickets are available online on BookmyShow.

According to the latest update, eight teams will participate in the competition with each team playing all other sides once apiece in the tournament. That makes it a total of 28 games during the round-robin, league stage of the TNPL before the top four sides in the tournament qualify for the knock-out stage. The knock-out round will see the top four sides make it to the semi-finals, with the winner of the two semi-finals playing in the final.
